What are high current transformers?
High-current transformers are used, for example, in conductive heating systems, electric furnaces, electroplating and anodizing baths, glass melting systems, test fields etc.
This “variant” of the transformer requires increased attention to the avoidance of effects due to the high currents >5000A.
The design of these transformers is largely determined by the conditions, e.g. mains voltage, frequency, the process requirements such as operating mode, cooling.
Compared to conventional transformers, the use of directly water-cooled windings is a distinctive feature.
