Areas of application
The areas of application of electric heat for industrial heating in production are diverse and extensive, with the production process being decisive for the respective product. The heating can take place before, during or after a production step.
Forge heating
During forging, a metallic workpiece is formed suddenly and without cutting by pressure forming, which has previously been heated to a target temperature determined by the forging process.
The usual materials and temperatures are:
- Steel approx. 950-1250º C
- Brass approx. 750º C
- Aluminum approx. 550º C
After heating, the workpiece is fed to the forging process and then forged by the pressure of two dies (drop forge) or hammer blow (hammer forge).
In terms of shape, the base material generally consists of round or angular sections / rods.
The forging processes are grouped as follows:
- Open die forging
- Drop and hammer forging with a burr
- Drop forging without a burr
Converter heating
During forming, a metallic workpiece is formed without cutting by pressure forming, which is previously heated to a target temperature determined by the forming process.
The workpiece is heated completely or partially, depending on the degree of deformation, e.g. final heating of tubes / bars.
The usual materials and temperatures are:
- Steel approx. 550-1250º C
- Brass approx. 500 – 750º C
- Aluminum approx. 200 – 550º C
After heating, the workpiece is fed to the forming process and then formed by applying force such as rolling, pressing, etc.
The forming processes are often grouped as follows:
- Upsetting
- Set
- Extrusion
- Punch
- Deburring
- Shape
- Rollers
Process warming
The use of inductive and / or conductive heating is not limited to forging or converter heating.
The possible uses of this heating technology also include melting, annealing, preheating, tempering, joining and drying of e.g. tools and matrices, as well as soldering, if necessary also under vacuum or protective gas atmosphere.
The materials to be heated are metallic materials, graphite, temperature ranges are diverse, regardless of whether individual, continuous or cycle heating.
